Tangy Yogurt Caesar Salad Dressing

Here is a tangy, nutrient rich twist on a classic Caesar salad dressing using yogurt as a base. I like to keep my fridge stocked with plain yogurt to enjoy with sweet and crunchy toppings for breakfast, to use as a creamy topping for meals such as soups and enchiladas, and to make sauces and dressings with!

This dressing recipe is so quick and easy and uses most ingredients that you probably already have on hand. Why buy store-bought dressing again? Simply combine all ingredients in a bowl and whisk until well combined. This recipe works well on many greens, but if using kale I like to massage it in olive oil first before dressing.

Kitchen Tip!

My kitchen tip for you this week is to always freshly shred your cheese. Buying larger blocks of cheese is generally more cost effective than pre-shredded options. Not only is it budge friendly, but freshly shredded cheese tends to melt easier (very important for dishes like pizza!). Cheese that you shred yourself also is often more flavorful and fresh tasting as it doesn’t require additional preservation methods.

I will also, yet again, recommend investing in a garlic press for your arsenal of kitchen tools. Chopping garlic is one of those time consuming tasks that can make cooking more of a chore. If you use garlic as often as I do, using a garlic press to quickly mince your cloves will save on time, effort, and cleanup in the kitchen. I have the Oxo brand garlic press which I couldn’t recommend more for its ease of use and easy cleaning feature.

Nutrition Tip!

Yogurt is one tangy and nutrient-rich food to consider including in your diet regularly. It is naturally a good source of protein which can help with feelings of fullness and satisfaction as well as support tissue growth and maintenance, supports your metabolism and many bodily functions. Yogurt is also a great source of many essential nutrients including calcium, B vitamins potassium, phosphorus, zinc, and is often fortified with vitamin D. This fermented dairy product is also a source of probiotics in the form of live and active cultures that will be listed on their labels. These nutrients found in yogurt may aid in digestive health, bone density and prevention of osteoporosis, and immune support. Finding ways to include yogurt in your meals, such as choosing it for the base of your salad dressing, can be a delicious way to incorporate many of these beneficial nutrients into your diet.
